Direct Care Services
Direct Care Services are available for HIV positive individuals. These services are provided once an individual provides a confirmation of their HIV status and proof of residency in one of the 19 counties served in the Health Service Delivery Area.
 
Social Case Management
Social Case Management involves any meetings with the Social Worker except those for counseling purposes. It can include intake, case updates, referrals, assistance with application to SSI / SSDI and many other functions.
 
Oral Health
Dental services are available and clients are scheduled for a dental assessment as soon as possible after they have completed the intake process.
 
Nutrional Assessment and Counseling
Nutrional Assessment and Counseling is provided for food pantry clients and can be provided to other clients by request.
 
Food Pantry
The BCAR Food Pantry allows clients to visit weekly. Pantry hours are Wednesday from 11:00a - 3:00p. Special arrangments are made for clients who travel into Abilene for medical and dental appointments on other days and they are allowed to visit the pantry while they are in town.
 
Health Insurance Continuation
The Health Insurance Continuation program provides premium payment for clients who may have lost their jobs and been able to assume COBRA coverage, for individual coverage or for deductibles and / or co-payments for individuals who have health insurance through employment or have Medicare.
 
Psychosocial Support Counseling
Individual and group couseling is available, provided by a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
 
Transportation
BCAR provides a broad spectrum of transportation services including bus passes, taxi service [on a limited basis], rural van services and mileage reimbursement to friends and family members who transport clients to medical, dental and / or psychosocial appointments.
 
Client Advocacy
BCAR staff advocate for clients on a regular basis. BCAR has a commited volunteer who is engaging in specific activities each month in an attempt to improve the quality of our clients' lives.
